Dar al-Diyafa (دار الضيافة, “house of hospitality”) is the guesthouse inside Al-Munya. The majlis that sits there remains An-Nudama; the official Arabic form is this one, and this one alone.
It is the paying guesthouse. Receipts stay with Al-Munya, the company that holds the body. That company pays the neighbouring House a fixed annual fee, whatever the profits — never a percentage of revenue.
How one is received
It receives paying guests on request, with the right to refuse. The price of a stay is high; it does not decide admission. Every request is examined, and may be refused without a published reason.
A stay confers no title over the common life of the neighbouring House. Crossing the door in the common wall, if it ever happens, remains a gesture of those who live on the other side.
Dar al-Diyafa exists in Fez and in Sicily, with the same logic and the same name. “Dar al-Duyuf” and دار الضيوف are not used as alternative forms.
The apartment of honour
It is not let. It appears on no tariff and on no list; when the house offers it, the majlis closes. It is not a suite at a higher rate.
The rule is written so that this room remains what it is: offered, or empty. The day it had a price, its function would be destroyed.
